AUTUMN WINTER 2007-2008

WINTRY YET LIGHT
Global warming is a reality which we cannot avoid. Scabal, the manufacturer of high-quality fabrics and stylish menswear, has therefore taken this fact into account by offering fabrics which look decidedly wintry, but which are also comfortable and light to wear. A stylish, timeless image can therefore be very forward-looking as far as content is concerned, whilst providing contemporary comfort.
Scabal stands for timeless, top quality, and elegant chic. These fixed values are backed by many years' experience and know-how which bring innovation into tradition. The modern, forward-looking touch of Scabal resides in the make-up of the fabrics, the trendy colour schemes, and the detailed finish on the collars, pockets, and sleeves. One could call it fashion awareness at its most subtle.
Elegance, Casually
The style of the suits remains formal and the fabrics project a clean look, but the lines stay fairly soft. This gives the suit its young, fresh and contemporary fashion image. The semi-lined jackets ensure increased comfort when worn under an overcoat. The Tweed and Donegal materials look wintry but they are light and super-soft. The herringbone designs are translated playfully, and the mottled effects provide that extra wintry feel. For those more relaxed moments there is a baby corduroy that is so fine and so soft that it could be likened to smooth velvet. The elbow pads and contrasting leather collars and vertical pleats in the pockets – as seen on uniforms – give the collection a wintry, casual feel.
Wintry Colours; an Interplay Between Warm and Cold
Neutral, fairly dark tints, such as navy blue, grey, aubergine, brown and concrete, form the basis for the winter collection. They are brightened up with hints of lavender blue, turquoise blue, and dark red. Nuances of warm beige, khaki, and burnt orange make the entire look less predictable. Golden hues are also an absolute must in the winter fashion image. Scabal combines them with dark brown to ensure a warm glow. The timeless grey Savile Row suit remains part and parcel of the collection, but it is updated with a red pinstripe. Hazy stripes with shadowy effects are the major innovation within this formal style. The suits are combined with an overcoat in the same fabric as the suit, or they are worn with a plain moleskin overcoat.
Jumpers and Accessories
Besides suits and combinations of casual jackets and trousers, Scabal offers a compact yet complete selection of jumpers. These range from sporty cardigans with a ‘two-directional zip' to the traditional jumper and cardigan featuring a timeless cable design in colours which are equally timeless. Shirts emphasised by contrasting collars and cuffs or with unexpected hints of colour, ties with micro-designs, shiny black leather belts, and black and white accessories spice up even the most businesslike suits into a stylish and trendy ensemble. With cashmere jumpers it is possible to wear the same suit formally or more casually, without making any faux-pas as regards fashion and style. Noble materials in beautiful colours are easy to combine and harmonise.
Timeless Suits for Contemporary Men
The trend which once again sees young men reaching out for a suit is becoming more deeply entrenched with the passing of the seasons. Scabal visualises this very clearly in his winter campaign. The photo shoot for the advertising campaign images took place in the vibrant heart of the city of London. Each and every one of the models, all young men, exudes a magnetic dynamism. They can be formally dressed in a pinstriped suit highlighted with a subtle hint of fashion, and then again dressed casually in a combination of a check blazer and plain trousers. Now more than ever, Scabal proves that businesslike can also be young and modern.
