British Heritage DNA Explained By Head Of Design Campbell Dunn

To seek inspiration for the new season, head of design Campbell Dunn headed north where winters can be by turns brutish and beautiful. Pass through England and eventually its industrial cities give way to sparse grassland on the way up to Scotland.

It was up among these rustic colours, wild landscapes and dramatic rock formations that his inspiration for SCABAL’s Winter menswear collection was found – a wintry wonderland to fire Dunn’s imagination.

More Relaxed, Natural Sartorial Style

“We ended up shooting the campaign in a very rugged patch of Scotland” Campbell explains. “The natural landscape, the rocks and the light there seemed to really bring the collection to life. Of course, everything we do stays true to our Holme Valley mill origins – that British heritage is in our DNA – but we’ve always striven to evolve our fabrics. Each collection represents a step forward in some way. With the Winter 2018 collection, those inspirations from nature lead to a. It still has elegance and ease, but we’ve erred more towards the oversized and been a little less strict with classic constructions. The colour palettes, too, reflect our inspirations, with dark greens, slate greys, flashes of heather and earthy browns complementing the classic colourways.
